Profile: University of Georgia Student Learning Center
|
|
Designed to create a collaborative learning environment, the University of Georgia’s Student Learning Center integrates classroom and library functions in a highly interactive environment. The facility includes 204,000 square feet of integrated space, including 26 classrooms that seat over 2,400 students with a 2,600-seat “virtual library.” The library offers study areas for individuals and groups to promote information literacy with computer network connections. Traditional library stacks are not included in the facility. The center is located in the middle of campus and serves as a link between north and south campus. The facility is designed in the aesthetic tradition of UGA’s North campus. The scale, form and articulation of the four-story structure observes traditional campus architecture, while expressing an aesthetic that is both progressive and familiar.
