The Junction, Brooklyn, New York City

Located along Flatbush Avenue, The Junction is a 260,000 SF retail center on three levels serviced by a 500-car parking deck. The project is designed to provide a mix of small community-based retailers at street level and large regional and national chains on upper levels. A dramatic glazed atrium fronting Brooklyn's main shopping artery provides access and visibility. Lighted glass pylons anchor the corner of the site and provide signature signage beacons for the project and retailers. The site sits at the junction of three distinct residential communities, the terminal point of two subway lines and the crossroads of six public bus lines. A public/private partnership of the city of New York, the borough of Brooklyn and Triangle Equities, the Junction will harmonize a dense urban district and surrounding low-rise residential communities.

Flushing, Queens, New York City

Located in the northern portion of New York City's Queens borough, the town of Flushing has evolved from an agrarian and horticultural community to a vibrant and ethnically rich community with a celebrated history.

Thanks to its unique heritage, Flushing has been the focus of planning efforts over the last 40 years. Today the attention of the local, city and state government has focused on downtown Flushing as fertile ground for future development and growth. Cooper Carry was selected by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to guide the community and local agencies to action. The firm's mandate is to produce a world-class plan for urban development, and to guide the execution of the design.

Through a series of public workshops and stakeholder meetings, Cooper Carry has enumerated the dreams, desires and concerns of the public. These recorded issues will inform the final plan and the implementation process. A mission statement and Guiding Principles have been established as the criteria by which all future planning will be evaluated. As the process unfolds, implementation strategies will be studied and measurable action will be delineated.

PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The new extension of the existing Gateway alignment will connect Downtown Pittsburgh to Northside developments across the Allegheny River via an underground tunnel. The visibility of the design will be emphasized with architectural notions of silhouette, material and light. The ground portion of the station will be rendered as an entirely glass object allowing daylight to pour into the core by day and act as beacon of light visible from downtown by night.

The station's location provides an opportunity to organize its surroundings. The plaza area around the station entrance will connect the station to the street and also be integrated into surrounding development.

The Lodge at Woodloch Spa, Hawley, PA

Nestled on 70 acres of woodland deep in the Pocono Mountains, The Lodge at Woodloch Spa & Resort will provide world class spa services and hotel accommodations. A pool, fitness area, yoga facilities, 27 treatment rooms, women’s salon and old fashioned gentlemen’s barber shop complement 60 luxuriously oversized guest rooms in an immersive environment for relaxation and rejuvenation for the body and soul.

Harlem Renaissance Plaza

Cooper Carry is designing the Harlem Renaissance Plaza—a 45,000 square foot entertainment retail development on Harlem's historic 125th Street—for the Fata Organization. This tri-level retail development is designed to be an integral part of the retail revitalization and repositioning of the 125th Street corridor and Empowerment Zone. Strategically located on an infill site across from the Apollo Theater, the design presents a sleek new architectural vernacular beckoning Harlem's future. The project is a public/private venture through a land offering from the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
