Limited-Service Update: Evanston, Suffolk and Birmingham
Hilton Garden Inn at Church Street Plaza
Evanston, Illinois

This urban hotel is part of a mixed-use develop- ment in downtown Evanston, a suburb of Chicago. The full-service 105,000 square-foot hotel provides 178 guestrooms, restaurant, lounge, 4,000 square feet of meeting rooms, exercise room, interior swimming pool and exterior terraces on .8 acres. Covered parking is provided in the adjacent city owned parking garage, accessible via a covered arcade, and the meeting entrance located along the garage access road.

The mixed-use development, including retail, cinema, and parking garage, opened in the fall of 2000. The hotel opened in mid-summer 2001. The facility was uniquely adapted to its location, but the design was brought in on time and on budget. The Evanston Hilton Garden Inn has been extremely well received by the surrounding community and a phenomenal economic performer in the hospitality industry.

Suffolk Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center
Suffolk, Virginia

Located at Constant's Wharf in Suffolk, Virginia,  this full service conference hotel will provide 150 guestrooms and 7,300 square feet of conference space. In addition to the master plan, which includes an outdoor amphitheater, restaurant sites and a rebuilt boardwalk, the hotel will provide a health club, hotel restaurant and covered parking for over 100 cars. Construction is scheduled to begin on October 1.

Birmingham Courtyard by Marriott

Birmingham, Alabama

The 114-room Birmingham Courtyard, located across the street from the University
of Alabama Hospital, serves Birmingham visitors and the families of hospital patients.
The hotel includes 3,000 square feet of meeting space, exercise room and 2,200
square-foot bar and restaurant. The new facility will connect with its urban context in scale and materials and also offer a street side outdoor café.
